Garden Design and Inspiration.
The idea that a garden is chiefly a visual experience extends back to Gertrude Jekyll. She maintained that constructing a garden should be like painting a series of pictures, and many garden designs still follow this basic principle. In todays society it is little wonder that, for inspiration, we often turn to photographs for ideas. Thats why we have developed an interactive gallery of
popular gardens found throughout Britain. There's also a directory of
Garden Designers where you can see examples of their designs and read a little more about them. Should you see something you would like for your garden simply scroll over the photograph and click the item in question to learn more.
Whilst there are no strict rules on how you should design your garden there are a number of popular principles from which to draw inspiration. The type of garden design that you opt for may be based on the garden you inherit. You can draw inspiration from some of the fantastic gardens found throughout Britain that are open to the public. Another place to get inspiration for your garden is to head to the
garden shows. The Chelsea Flower show needs little introduction but there are a number of shows held throughout the year from which to draw inspiration.
