Hill Close Gardens
Hill Close Gardens are a group of sixteen restored Victorian hedged gardens with brick summerhouses overlooking Warwick racecourse on the edge of the town. They were used by local business people who wanted to escape from their crowded homes in the congested town centre to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables and take tea in their summerhouses. Visitors can learn about the people who owned and rented these plots, and enjoy the fine herbaceous borders and unusual varieties of bulbs and old fruit trees. There is a large glasshouse, and plants and produce for sale. Light refreshments are available in the contemporary sustainable visitor centre.
There's often a Gardeners guided tour every 2nd Friday, 2.30pm-3.30pm, in the month. There is a small charge for this.
Generally the garden opens Fri & Sun 2-5pm Sat & Bank Hol Mon 11am-5pm
